FC Barcelona are pushing to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski as his contract is expiring in 2023. The Polish player wants to leave the club, and said to the media after their win over Wolfsburg on Saturday that he will not renew his contract. FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez wants him, and a deal could happen.
“I’ve received no contract offer from FC Bayern and decided to leave. We need to find the best solution for me and for the club”, Robert Lewandowski told Bild.
Robert Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi is reportedly putting pressure on Bayern, and is also pushing for timely negotiations with Barcelona, which is reported by SPORT journalists Kerry Hau and Carsten Arndt.
Robert Lewandowski said that he spoke with Bayern Munich Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidžić and informed him of his decision to not extend his contract with the Bavarians.
“I can confirm that I spoke with Hasan (Salihamidžić) and informed him that my decision had been made and I would not be extending my contract with Bayern. Both sides have to think about the future. We’ve to find the best solution for both sides.” Lewandowski told Sky Sports.
“I told Hasan that if an offer comes in, then we have to think about it – also for the club. Both sides have to think about the future. I cannot say more. What if Bayern rejected all offers. Of course, I still have a year of contract. But I said that we have to find the best solution for both sides. We’ll have to wait and see what happens,” he added.
