It’s a dream of every Barcelona fan, especially after the departure of Lionel Messi, to have a star leading the club into the future. One of the first names on the list has always been Erling Haaland. But is he really the player that FC Barcelona needs? Is Haaland to Barcelona possible ?
Why Haaland to Barcelona?
Ever since he made his Champions League debut for RB Salzburg, he has been under the limelight for his excellent goal-scoring record and his winning mentality. This kind of player is very much needed at FC Barcelona at this moment, as we clearly lack goals and a player with the mentality of Haaland. He is clearly a fan favorite and has the capacity and capability to lead the club and be the main man for a long period of time.
Problems in Haaland to Barcelona
There is no sporting aspect of the deal which is a problem. Despite him having a release clause of €75M, it is difficult for the Blaugranas to complete the Haaland deal. It’s the finances of the deal which can be a major hindrance in FC Barcelona’s pursuit of the Norwegian striker. Not only does he have high wage demands but also has high agent fees (since we are dealing with Mino Raiola). With the delicate financial FC Barcelona are in it’s highly impractical for FC Barcelona.
Alternatives to Haaland to Barcelona
Looking at the current situation of FC Barcelona, playing in the Europa League and fighting for a top 4 spot in La Liga, a much practical solution is to spend the transfer budget to improve the team overall. A much cheaper striker alternative like Edison Cavani for the short term or the exciting young Argentine Julian Alvarez from River Plate.
Not only strikers, but we also need to renew Dembele and sign a winger which potentially could be Ferran Torres. Also a long-term center-back replacement for Pique and a partner for Araujo, potential links to Laporte at the beginning of the season, and also De Ligt. A right-back and potentially a left-back to replace the aging Jordi Alba are also on the cards.
So, it is practical to spend all the field and improve the team overall than spend on one player. Hence is Haaland to Barcelona a practical solution?
